Sometimes we get the opportunity to do something that is truly worthwhile and inspires us. The last couple of days spent with the training team at Commando Training Centre Royal Marines, going through our techniques and training approach has been one of those times. Firstly and most importantly we should be proud that our country has men like this, training to super human levels so they can protect us. Every last man impressed me with his attitude and ability. Time was spent training and comparing their current methods of hand to hand combat and the Kalah system.
The feedback has been incredible and I’m honoured that the guys took so much from our time together. I’ve commented before on the tiresome tribalism that exists with the self defence industry and it has been a absolute pleasure to train with professional people who’s only interest is what might actually save their life. Their attitude exactly mirrors ours within the Kalah System. It either works or it doesn’t, you can bullshit all you like but under real conditions, you’ll get found out.
I’d like to thank Idan for putting his faith in me to deliver what is, in anybody’s world, a high profile piece of work. Once again it highlights the quality of the system and the standards he sets. Most importantly I’d like to extend my thanks to all those I met and trained with at CTCRM, your hospitality and enthusiasm was fantastic and your abilities awe inspiring. I look forward to returning in early Autumn to work on further programs.
Kalah takes training to a new level and is based upon proven and sound principles. In my career I am certain that this training is of the highest calibre and is the best course I have attended to date.
Idan is a formidable leader with such humility, training with him teaches lessons that extends even beyond the Kalah curriculum, his exceptional leadership transforms lives. I can attest to the fact that my time spent with Kalah has lead me to new levels of proficiency and an extremely realistic experience of real live scenarios.
I would without doubt recommend Kalah to all of those who want to belong to a collective that exudes professionalism, technical skills, robust capability and precision of conduct.
I Want to thank you Idan for training you gave me not Mickey Mouse training but proper hard realistic training.
About an hour ago me and a friend of mine where part of a armed robbery thank God we where not part of the ones who got hurt but i was able to think, react and keep my friend safe even though everybody around us where hysterical and could not function with AK47 bullets flying around us.
I am grateful. Would not have been able to react the way i reacted without your training.
On this day 25th March 2017 (it was a Saturday) I met Idan for the first time. Idan immediately got my attention by the way he spoke about self defence and combat. I was nervous but glad to be there. We did 10/15 minutes of Krav Maga with Lior and then 10/15 minutes of KALAH with Idan over 5 hours. And I can tell you this, I was used to the Krav mentality as that is what I was practicing, But when it was time to do KALAH for the first time I was instantly shocked. Why ?? Because it was so difficult. It felt like real fights that I had experienced in my life. I questioned myself again and again … what is going on here? I then came to realise Krav Maga was not for me anymore because it did not give the reality, I must start to learn KALAH from this man, Idan. I ended up being sick at the end of the day and Idan dragged me to the toilet, soaked my head with water and left me there so he could continue with the rest of the people. I was finished! I went back out after about 10 minutes and the seminar was over. I did not make the second day and it was purely down to being exhausted from KALAH. Since that day I have studied KALAH everyday from as little as 1 hour up to 6 hours .. training, watching Idan and other instructors like Nahum Belver Martin Sládek Matt Kalah Listening to posts … study study study train train train. KALAH changed my life for the best in every way. I owe some to myself for my commitment but I owe big time to God for showing me the way to this man who stills teaches me and helps me personally and professionally, he is not only my Head Instructor in KALAH but he is more importantly my good friend and brother.I can never repay you for everything you done for me but I will support you and stand by you forever.ThankU brother IDAN.KALAH SYSTEMGod Bless
I need to analyse, understand, test, and question my certainties, so I’m often defined as a researcher. Experienced in Kyokushin, Russian Combat, TAIKIKEN, and Krav Maga among others, I grew intrigued by the KALAH self defence system and its founder, Idan Abolnik.During a basic but intensive training in Bordeaux, KALAH quickly won me over with its humility and pragmatism, clean of any unnecessary or aesthetic gesture or behaviour. In particular, I was surprised by the ease of learning a newcomer to the system experiences, but especially by the high percentage of retention of material covered even after the seminar ended, so that after two hours of seminar, an average assiduous person will be able to reproduce the basic moves instinctively. This is the strength of KALAH that makes it an extraordinary and formidable defence system. After the seminar in Bordeaux, I was lucky enough to be able to approach Idan who agreed to do a course in Israel. His kindness, selflessness, and the realism of the system ended up seducing me, and I integrated KALAH into some of my martial arts lessons.
KALAH shed even further light, that the current operational and training standards in South Africa as well as the world were simply not up to scratch from urban/bush warfare to close protection/body guarding, armed and/or unarmed reaction, to operational security standards and training perspectives!
Training alongside KALAH TACTICAL EU DIVISION Instructors and KALAH Founder, Idan Abolnik provided insight, experiences, and knowledge like I’ve never experienced before! The training which was always executed under unmatched, realistic circumstances, provided superior situational understanding and awareness, and set the tone for what was one of my most intensive and humbling experiences of my career within the security sector.
It is with great pride and with a duty of responsibility to our staff and clientele, that we have implemented KALAH SELF DEFENCE, SECURITY STANDARDS, and COMBAT SYSTEMS as our minimum standard both from an ongoing training perspective, as well as operational perspective! We feel that implementing these standards is a non negotiable necessity for any security company and/or person wanting to provide their clients and/or themselves with a realistic chance of success and survival in a hostile world and/or hostile business environment.
There is no doubt in my mind that this level training can, and will help any company, and/or civilian better secure their respective worlds!
My first contact with KALAH was in 2016, like most people, through videos posted on the internet.Seeing the speed of the defenses and the solutions proposed by Idan in his explanations, aroused my curiosity for this system, which, later on, became part of my life and, to which, he has my confidence to protect it if one day necessary. In July 2017 Idan came to Brazil for the first time to teach a KALAH seminar, aimed at security operators, which was attended by federal, military and municipal police from various cities, as well as practitioners and teachers of self-defense.
Luckily, this was held in a city close to mine! With ten minutes of seminar, the one I already admired for his skill and dexterity, as well as for having developed a combat system that soon I would certify the efficiency in his own skin, also won my respect for his honesty.First, demolishing in a few minutes everything that we thought was efficient and that we practiced for years to protect ourselves from knife attacks. Thank God we never do!Second, and not least, he said that everything we were going to train “would improve our chances” of defense in the event of an attack, which was not there to sell false promises, as there is no 100% defense guarantee in real combat and if someone wanted to leave the event to do it whenever they wanted, but whoever stayed would have to commit to giving their maximum, 100% of their attention, strength, dedication and everything, to have a 50% chance of living. “And believe me, this is a great chance in a real fight,” he said with his eyes bloodshot with confidence in what he explained (and which I have repeated so many times in KALAH events and demonstrations that I participate). From then on, it was two intense days, as any KALAH training requires. As much as the videos are well explained (and they are!) And demonstrate the efficiency of the system (this is clear when done in “full atack” mode), feel in your own body, permeated by adrenaline, the resistance of the partner, the proximity reality, due to tiredness and even fear, makes you act out of your comfort zone, and comfort is everything you will not have under a situation of sudden stress, which can lead your life or that of your loved ones.I remember the ride home, in the car, five krav maga practitioners, among them, a master and two instructors, all of us in silence, with aching bodies and wide-eyed, even intimidated by admitting that everything we trained before that it had gone down the drain. And there, at that moment, one of KALAH’s most important lessons had been absorbed: the detachment of the EGO. Some there with more than two decades of training and degrees in martial arts and self-defense.Everything we learned in those two days was incorporated into our training and, since then, the training has been passed on to all other students, instructors and training partners, with due credit to KALAH. Ever! And so several others had contact with the system and made a point of participating in the new events and seminars. We started to monitor more and more everything related to the system and try to reproduce what was possible. After two postponements, by force majeure, finally, in February 2019 we managed to bring Idan Abolnik back to Brazil, this time, in addition to the second seminar (again considered a success by all participants!), To teach his first training course in instructors. To our pleasant surprise, Idan had invited Nahum Belver (Chief Instructor of KALAH in Spain and responsible for the Tactical Division of KALAH) to assist him in this mission. After a week of intense work, a huge load of information passed daily, under almost indescribable physical and psychological pressure (and two casualties, out of a total of three candidates, in the first two days of the course), on the seventh day I faced the exam Final.Just like every day, we started the course embracing and saying a prayer. When I was given the opportunity to speak, I asked GOD that I be approved as an instructor only if I could pass on everything I learned during those days with the same responsibility that I was taught. And it was His will that I passed.I can say that that week, among all the principles and concepts, I learned more about self-defense (and how fragile our life is) than in my whole life, and also that in serious training there is no room for vanity or superheroes because in certain situations, in order to have a chance to survive, you will have to face much more than you think.Particularly, after more than fifteen years working in the Operations Nucleus of one of the units of the Brazilian Federal Police, I learned that, in most situations, drawing the firearm should not be the first answer, whether to control an aggressive suspect or even for protection from unexpected aggression.Today, I seek to disseminate this knowledge to my professional colleagues and to those who wish to learn a complete combat system that was created to save and protect lives in a simple and efficient way. And in a life or death situation, and with all the difficulties that we are subject to, these are two indispensable weapons.I have no doubt that KALAH, which today has instructors in more than 25 countries and that, thanks to the internet, is trained (and copied) in dozens of others, will grow a lot, both here in Brazil and in several other countries. And for me, it is a great honor (and a great responsibility) to be part of this family in whom I look to maintain the same quality in the training and classes that have elevated the KALAH COMBAT SYSTEM to the level it occupies today: the vanguard of self-defense in the world.
KALAH COMBAT SYSTEMTraining survivors, with reality and responsibility.
